Tessa Waite 13th-14th, 20th-21st, 27th-28th June Saturday/Sunday - 10am to 6pm
In this exhibition of new work Tessa has been inspired by a collection of over 200 slide images of the artist's family taken by her father, who died when she was ten. They form a time capsule of imagesof another era, which Tessa has used to produce works including paintings, drawings, prints, etched photographs and cut out silhouettes. “Although the images are from a personal source, they have a potency that goes beyond their specific nature,” Tessa says. “Through them, I am exploring life imperatives - time passing, the ephemeral nature of the world, the complexity of relationships - that are part of the universal human experience.” Tessa
has lived in Wales since 1984 and works from her studio at Penpont
House, near Brecon. She has exhibited widely, and her work is held
in several public collections. She teaches at The University of Wales,
Aberystwyth and is a regular contributor to art projects at Arts Alive,
Crickhowell. In 2007, she co-curated Parclife, an acclaimed exhibition
of 14 artists who made work in response to Penpont House and grounds.
She is currently involved in planning a second event there, Stad yr
Ystad – State of the Estate, which will take place in October.
