'Moth' Papercut 2010

 

Claire uses a scalpel to cut intricate designs into layers of paper, often in radiating circles of decorative pattern and motifs inspired by natural forms.

The simplicity and purity of paper as a medium, the portrayal of nature, and the formal qualities of the work serve to highlight themes of beauty and elegance.

Originally from Devon, Claire studied Metalwork and Jewellery at Loughborough University. Following her BA she completed a Masters Degree at the Royal College of Art in London. She moved to Wales in 2006.
